He was predeceased by : his parents, Anthony Cantafio and Constance Cantafio (Pia); his former life partner Florence Zimmer; his wife Ellie Olson; his son Tom; his grandsons, Bryan and Michael; his stepson Sean Olson; and his brothers, Frank and Joe Cantafio (Rosie).

He is survived by : his children, Jerry Cantafio (Kathy Holland) of Antioch, IL, Linda Meagher (Jim) of Fox Lake, WI and Allison Scala (Steve) of Mt. Prospect, IL; his grandchildren, Carianne Clark (Antonio) of Chicago, Jamie Morris (Dave) of Verona, WI, Kevin Meagher (Mel) of Fox Lake, WI, Mark Meagher (Nicki) of Fox Lake, WI, Gianna (Colin Olson) of Mt. Prospect, IL, Alyssa of Mt. Prospect, IL and Lia Scala of Mt. Prospect, IL; his great grandchildren, Connor Cantafio, Aubree, Colton Clark, Eleanor Morris, Kevin Meagher Jr., Connor Schneider, Savannah and Mackenzie Meagher; his stepsons, Joe Olson (Karen) and Matt Olson (Michelle); and his stepgrandchildren, Evan, Colin, Samantha, Skyler, Nick, Maddie and Dream. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, several other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Legion Post 521 or Badger Honor Flight in Alfonso Cantafio's name.
