Donald J. Zoromski passed away peacefully on October 13, 2022. Don was born in Wausau, Wisconsin on March 31, 1938 to the late Benjamin and Theresa Zoromski. On May 21, 1960 Don married the love of his life Janette Pospyhala. Don resided in Germantown for the last 46 years.
Don graduated from Wausau High School in 1956. Following high school Don joined the United States Army. Don was very proud to serve his country and often shared many memories from his service. Don was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in 1956.
Don had a successful career spending seven years at American Motors in Kenosha, WI., eight years at H.A. Crane Company in Racine, WI. Don spent the last 34 years of his career with Wisconsin Magneto as a distributor for Briggs & Stratton. Don retired in March 2003.
Following retirement Don found a passion for roses. Don spent countless hours learning about roses, ultimately gaining the status of a Certified Master Rosarian. Don went on to win multiple awards over the years with the roses he would grow and nurture. Don's favorite rose is the Lavaglute. Don enjoyed attending conferences, trade shows and would often be a guest speaker to various rose shows, including the Milwaukee Calatrava Art Museum. Don went on to be the Chairman of the Milwaukee Rose Society, Treasurer of the North Central US District Rose Society, as well as a member of many other Rose Society's. Don also worked part-time after his retirement at the Flower Source in Germantown as a Rose Specialist. At one time Don had over 300 rose plants in his Germantown yard, many of which Don bred and raised. On any summer day you would find Don working in his Germantown yard or in his driveway selling plants-which are still for sale if anyone is interested. Don would donate the money from his plant sales to the Rose Society and American Legion.
Don also loved making wine, either from fresh grapes or extract. Don enjoyed sharing his talent with friends and family. Don also collected coins, guns, vintage bayonets from previous wars around the world. Don was incredibly knowledgeable about American Military history and would talk with anyone who would listen, telling stories for hours on end. Don prided himself as Green Bay Packer Stockholder, consistently attending the annual Packer Stockholder meeting. In recent years, Don was active with Germantown American Legion Post 1, helping and supporting the Post on a weekly basis.
Don was a dedicated, loving husband, father and grandfather. Don loved the time he spent with family and cherished the holidays with everyone around the family table. Don was an incredible wealth of knowledge and master at so many things, most importantly being a husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Surviving Don include his wife of 62 years Janette; their children, Cheryl (Dennis) Trupp, Jeff Zoromski, Suzette (Leif) Erickson, Steve (Jennifer) Zoromski, Carla Fowle; grandchildren, Paul Reagles, Ron Firnrohr III, Patrick Firnrohr, Jonah Fowle, Jacob Firnrohr, Allison Fowle, Sierra Zoromski, Brooke Zoromski. Don is also survived by two brothers Eugene and Gary, sisters-in-law Mary, Chris and Marleen Zoromski. Don was preceded in death by two brother's Lyle and Kenneth.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Boniface Catholic Church, W204 N11940 Goldendale Rd, Germantown, WI 53022, on Friday October 21, 2022 at 3:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family prior to service from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM. Burial will immediately follow the service at St. Boniface Cemetery. Don loved gatherings and food. Friends and family are invited to join the family following the burial for a luncheon at the Germantown American Legion N120 W15932 Freistadt Rd, Germantown, WI 53022. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don's name to St. Boniface Church or Germantown American Legion Post 1.
