Joan M. Johannsen Obituary
Of Germantown, died on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the age of 84 years. Joan was born in Milwaukee on August 19, 1939, a daughter of Gustav and Florence Hoffmann. She married Edward Johannsen on June 27, 1959. Over the years, Joan held a few positions with various companies. Her most notable, was working as a secretary for Publishers Mail for many years. Joan was an active and adventurous woman who enjoyed bowling, fishing, and was an avid Packer and Brewers fan. Family was Joan's life. She especially enjoyed spending time together and cooking for them. Her Thanksgiving stuffing, cabbage rolls, and her always sought after, "minced meat salad" (AKA Bologna Salad) were some of her families' favorites. Joan had a way with words. Some of her coin phrases were, "strong like bull," or the ever cherished "I love you more.". Joan will always be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and will always be cherished in the hearts of those who knew her.
Joan will be dearly missed by her sons, Mark (Diana) Johannsen, Craig Johannsen; grandchildren, Jamie (Tyler) Hickmann, Christopher (Megan) Johannsen, Krysta (Mike) Bohl, and Karly Johannsen; great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Hudson, Bennett, Nicholas, and Emmalyn; brother, Jim (Nancy) Hoffmann; niece, Nici Hoffmann; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
The visitation for Joan will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 3PM until the time of the 4:30PM Celebration of Life, at the Gables of Germantown, N109 W17075 Ava Circle, Germantown, WI 53022. Joan's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to The Gables of Germantown staff and managers for their love and compassion over the last three years. Also, to Horizon Hospice and the nursing staff at Froedtert Menomonee Falls, for their care during the final stages of Joan's life.
