He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Mertens and Ivy Mertens (Pechman) of Manitowoc, Wisconsin.. He is survived by: his wife Kathreen Mertens; his son Neal Mertens; and his sister Sharon Robinson.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to go towards a tree or bench at Green Isle Park, where Scott enjoyed daily excursions in his wheelchair.
