He is survived by: his wife Sandra; his children, Frederick Thacher (Daniel) and Judith Upmann (Alex); his grandchildren, Janet Daniels (Larry), Brett Thacher (Lia), Cheryl Upmann and Craig Thacher; and his stepsons, Todd Wiehr and Bradley Wiehr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sun Valley Presbyterian Church or Janesville Noon Rotary Club.
