He was predeceased by : his father Bob; his wife Mary; and his sister Janet Stilen. He is survived by : his daughters, Gretchen Shimek (Shaun) and Evangeline (Nathaniel Shimek); and his brothers, George Hopfensperger (Cindy) and Michael Hopfensperger. He is also survived by siblings; nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Katharine Drexel Parish - St. Mary (119 W 7th St, Kaukauna, WI 54130). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Katharine Drexel Parish – St. Mary's (119 W 7th St, Kaukauna, WI 54130).

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
