He was predeceased by: his parents, Lambert Honnef and Lillian Honnef (Rogers); and his sister Dorothy A. Rylander. He is survived by: his wife Edith C. Honnef; his children, Stephen Honnef (Grace), Paul Honnef (Lori) and Carmen Honnef Patterson (Tim); his grandchildren, Derek, Emily, Amber, Brandon, Ryan, Andrew, Allison (Zachary Lealiou), Angela, Abigail, Christopher (Macey Ironside) and Nicholas; and his brothers, Edwin Nelson (Linda) and John Nelson (JoAnn). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
