She was predeceased by: her husband Richard. She is survived by: her children, Renee Messing (Gary), Kari Peterson (Benito De Leon), Louise Olson (Daniel), Jayne Firouzbakht (Farid), Glenn Peterson (Lori), Richelle Anhalt (Patrick) and Noel Peterson (Amy); and her half-brother Mike Bangsberg (Vicki).

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joan's name may be made to the North Presbyterian Church Building Fund or the Coulee Region Humane Society.
