She was predeceased by : her mother Amy Van Asten (Hofacker); her grandfathers, Melvin "Butch" Van Asten and Henry "Hank" Hofacker; her aunt Kristine "Krissy" Hofacker; and her uncle David Hofacker.

She is survived by : her father Doug Van Asten (Amy); her brother Kade Van Asten; her grandmothers, Vicky Van Asten and Geraldine Hofacker; and her godparents, Teri and Lance Simons. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

“Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Kennedy I know the depth of love you shared. I am so sorry I did not know her because from the description of her she sounds like an amazing young woman. I wish there was something I could say, or do, to ease your pain, but I know there is not. Alicia, and I, are thinking of you and hoping that your family, and friends, support will see you through your grief.”
