He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Wegner and Emma Wegner (Preuss); his wife Mary; and his sister Shirley Ossmann (Kenneth). He is survived by: his daughters, Cynthia Wegner, Jane Hamel (Mark) and Julie Shepherd; his grandchildren, Joel Hamel (Ashli), Heather Aimetti (Alex), Jaclyn Shepherd and Ben Shepherd; and his brother Gene Wegner (Carol). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
