He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Raymond Burke and Magdalen Burke (Denessen); his spouse Judith Mueller; his children, Mary Burke of Madison, Anne (David Hone), Joseph (Patricia Burke), James (Mary Beth Burke), Katherine (Robert Tracy) and Michael (Catherine Burke); his grandchildren, Bridget, Joshua Hone, Colleen, Michael Burke, Sarah (Eric Acker), Sophie, Brenna Burke, Elizabeth, Patrick Tracy, Margaret and Graham Burke; and his siblings, Maureen Clarke, John, Timothy and James Burke. He was also cherished by many other relatives and friends.
