He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Preston and Elmira Preston (Behnke); his brothers, Jerome "Jerry" Preston and Dale Preston; his grandson Jameson Preston; his nephews, Hunter and Justin Preston; and his close friend Lisa Piper (Dave).

He is survived by: his children, Lenora Preston (Brett) and Cody Preston (Shannon Stoeckigt); his grandchildren, Chevella, Sadie, Leighla, Wyatt and Gauge; his brothers, Mark Preston (Laura) and Tom Preston (Sue); and his sisters-in-law, Diane Neumeyer (Dean) and Diane Preston.
