He was predeceased by: his wife Darlene A. Philipsky; his parents, Joseph DeChant and Evelyn Wroblewski; his stepfather Ed Wroblewski; his brother Arthur DeChant; and his nephew Adam Wiese.

He is survived by: his children, Ben DeChant and Annette DeChant; his siblings, Josephine Tomlinson DeChant and Victor DeChant; and his parents-in-law, Nancy Wangerin (Carl), Mary Wiese (Jim) and Tom Philipsky (Bev). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

The family has asked that any memorial donations can be made to the family, and they will be making a contribution to "Vets Roll" in Ray's memory (.
