He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Kluever; his parents, Edmund Helgerson and Clara Helgerson; and his siblings, Wayne, Clayton Helgerson and Ruth Simmons.

He is survived by: his children, Jane Watts (Adam) of England, Lynn Ford (Mike Sr.) of Granton and John Helgerson of Lindsey; his grandchildren, Katie Sabin, Michael Jr. Ford (Jen), Jacob Ford (Whitney), Jesse Helgerson, Aleigh Helgerson and Liberty Watts; his great grandchildren, Nathan Ford, Zander Dahl, Savannah Schill and Lillian Ford; and his close friend Dr. Fagbemi.

Memorials may be directed toward the Iola Nursing Home.
