Gary Wallace Drescher Obituary
Gary truly enjoyed life. He traveled the world, meeting people through Friendship Force. Music was one of his greatest passions – he took voice lessons, played the piano, attended the symphony and created an annual "Name That Tune" contest at the college where he worked. His dream was to write a song for Barry Manilow. Dance and theatre were also important to Gary; he enjoyed attending the Milwaukee Ballet and ballroom dance performances, and joining his friends for shows and musicals. He loved playing games, visiting Las Vegas and telling people about the time he was the big winner on Wheel of Fortune.
An instructor at Waukesha County Technical College, Gary taught grammar and writing skills. He was fond of letting his friends know when they made grammar mistakes and was one of those rare people who liked to diagram sentences. Earlier in his career, he worked for Milwaukee County, conducting civil service exams and interviews. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Providence as a First Lieutenant, stationed in San Diego.
He was a church leader and reader for the Third Church of Christ, Scientist. Gary's church family was important to him throughout his life.
Gary will be missed by his sister Sue Pipp, brother Scott Drescher, friend Dave Kalan and many others who were lucky enough to know him.
