Charles Brooks Evans Jr. Obituary
Charlie passed away peacefully on February 11th at age 75. He is survived by his wife Michele (nee Weber), her daughter Kimberly Konkel and granddaughter Gracelyn Konkel, loyal friend John Bully, and many friends and family.
Charlie spent his entire 37 year professional career with the Miller Brewing Company beginning right after college at the Ft Worth Brewery, where land that his grandparents once owned became the building site, later relocating to the Milwaukee brewery Through mutual Miller friends, he met the woman who would become his wife, also an employee there. He enjoyed telling the story that when he met Michele at a Miller party and they were introduced to each other, her first words to him were "So you're the a$$hole from Ft. Worth!".
They had occasional conflicts when he defended his turf at the Ft. Worth plant and she defended hers at Miller's Corporate office Despite the rocky start, they fell for each other and would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in July. Charlie was a loyal Miller guy and the very mention of brewing rival Anheuser Busch was a swear word as far as he was concerned! Watching sports of all kinds was a pastime for Charlie and he enjoyed playing golf Over time, Michele managed to help him forego his loyalty to those darn Dallas Cowboys and embrace the Cheesehead love of the Packers! Being a 3rd generation native Texan, and very proud of his heritage, that was NO easy task! The family sincerely thanks all the wonderful staff at Story Point Senior Living and Memory Care in Mequon and North Shore Hospice in Glendale for their steadfast care and compassion shown to Charlie, especially Nancy who became a friend as well as a trusted care giver.
Friends and family will gather on Saturday February 25th at Schmidt and Bartelt's Mequon location, 10280 N. Port Washington Road, at 2:00pm to bid Charlie a fond farewell. He was an animal lover and, if desired, a donation to the Wisconsin Humane Society's Ozaukee branch in remembrance would be lovely.
