He was predeceased by: his parents, Clem Schoechert and Betty Schoechert (Bublitz); his son Kenneth Petani; and his siblings, Leonard, Kenneth and Betty Marie.
He is survived by: his wife Markita Ann Flora; his children, Charles (Ann) of Edgerton and DeAnn Tollefson (Todd) of Portage; his grandchildren, Jessica (Cody), Brittany, Mitchell, Jordan (Morgan) and Parker; his sister Jean Ann Fitzgerald; and his sibling's children, Karen Schoechert, Kathy Medine and Keith Petani.
Donald was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Air Force and Sergeants Association, Retired Enlisted Association, the American Legion, Vietnam Vets Memorial Fund, United Service Organization as well as a member and past president of the Buffalo Lake Improvement Association for 15 years.
