He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Robert and Margaret Mary Higgins (Raleigh); his wife Gayle R. Benck Higgins (Bartusch); his godson Rob Kubes; his sisters, Rosemary McNamee (Ray) and Margaret Kathleen "Kitty" Thompson (Ed); his siblings-in-law, Lloyd Jarchow and Shirley Higgins; his niece Kathy Kubes; and his nephew Bill Jarchow.
He is survived by: his children, Pam Traiser (Chip) and David Benck (Therese); his siblings, Tom Higgins, Rita Higgins LaVenture (Jarchow) and Jeanne Kubes (Wally); his grandchildren, Melissa Traiser (Scott Bierbrauer), Joel Benck and Carl Benck (Nashia Soland); and his godchildren, Laura Schreier (Higgins) and Mike Thompson.
