He was predeceased by: his mother Elsie Traeder (Vinz); his wife Maxine Leone Diamond (Mac); and his siblings, Howard, Gus and Corrine Shaw.

He is survived by: his daughter Heidi Wefel (Paul); his grandchildren, Megan, Keegan and Max Wefel; and his sister Yvonne "Vonnie" Richard.

Memorials preferred to Mayo Clinic – Cancer Research or given to the family, which will then be donated.
