He was predeceased by : his parents, Edward Watzke and Maebelle Watzke (Wilke); his wife Judith York; his brother David Watzke; his siblings-in-law, Josef Maurer, Dennis Ebert and Susan Maurer; and his grandson Robert Hofmeister.

He is survived by : his children, Maggie Hofmeister (Bob), Donald Watzke Jr., Mike Watzke (Jacqueline) and Susan Watzke; his grandchildren, Matthew Hofmeister (Courtney), John Hofmeister, Blake Watzke, Alex Watzke (Stephanie), Taylor Watzke, Lindsay Laskovic, Rico Lester and Raeishean Lester (Brenda); his great grandchildren, Luka Laskovic, Isaiah Lester, Victoria Lester and Holden Hofmeister; and his sister Jane Ebert.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted in Don's name to Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church.
