He was predeceased by: his parents, Evan Schiefelbein and Hilda Schiefelbein (Schulte); and his wife Karen Gates. He is survived by: his children, Christine Falkenstein (Paul) of Fox Lake, Kimberly Schiefelbein of West Allis, Mark of Fish Creek and Amy Ziebell (Steve) of Oregon; his grandchildren, Amanda Ruiz (Steve) of Stillwater, MN and Corey Falkenstein of Hales Corners; and his daughter Chris Dewerie (Hemeleers).

Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or St. Peter's School or the Reedsburg Fire Department.
