He was predeceased by: his sons, David and Dean; and his siblings, Gerald (Joe), Warren and Noreen Merkel.
He is survived by: his wife Janet; his children, Kevin (Karen), Tracy Long and Gale Sippel (Terry); and his brother Keith Long (Sally). He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
