He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Boerner and Mary Boerner; his parent-in-law Edward Montpetit; his brother John Boerner; his grandson Mitchell Hansen; and also Goldie Montpetit.

He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Boerner (Montpetit); his children, Lisa Hansen (Steve) of Oshkosh, Jim Boerner (Lisa), Janelle Goking (Jim) of Sheboygan and Mary Walch (John) of Green Bay; his grandchildren, Ellyn Hansen, Molly Goking, Jack Goking, Craig Gerber and Katherine Walch; and his sisters, Jacqueline Daniels of Oshkosh and Jeanine Mullen (Scott) of Sheboygan.

In lieu of flowers, Jim requested gifts in his memory be made to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
