She was predeceased by: her parents, Wilbert Merkel and Elaine Stegemeyer Merkel; and her brother-in-law Dale Slimmer. She is survived by: her husband William Karl of Sheboygan; her children, Jan Strysick (Dave), Laura Hagberg (Monty) and Brett Slimmer (Brooke); her grandchildren, Logan, Marlee (Dawson Strysick), Maxwell (Riley Hagberg), Mackenzie and Austin (Carson Slimmer); and her siblings, Suzanne Slimmer, Richard Merkel (Becky) and Nancy Rakow (Todd). She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her name.
