He is survived by: his son Ronnie Peterson; his siblings, Susan Brown (Michael), Sally Heinzeroth (Mike) and Jack Peterson (Vicki); his close friend Linda McCord; his siblings' children, Josh Brown (Nicole), Jacob Peterson (Meg) and Alyssa Trombley (Blake); and his great-niece Charlene Alto (Jolin).

Memorials may be made to Dane County Humane Society, Stoughton Veterans Memorial Park, or Badger Honor Flight.
