He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin P. Rustad and Johanna B. Rustad (Gyland); his wife Lois A. Anderson; his siblings, Ole, Peder and Thelma Dahl; and his son-in-law Charlie Swiertz.

He is survived by: his children, Linda Swiertz, Mary Sperle, Sharon Zabel (Brian), Barb Morschauser (Nick), Marlene Olson (David), Marcia Wood (Jeff Shaffer) and Pete Rustad; and his sister Karen Peterson. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren.
