He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Knittel and Emilie Knittel (Kimmerle); his parents-in-law, Evelyn Brager (Reeve) and Erland Brager; and his siblings-in-law, Beverly Atkins, Carole Jean Brager and John Atkins.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Jo Knittel; his children, Teri Stoebner (Joseph), Robert Thorson (Jeanne), Michael Thorson, Anthony Thorson (Tanya), Carl Knittel (Kathy) and Doug Knittel (Celeste); his grandchildren, Keith Devine (Gretchen), Calista Thorson, Ava Thorson, Brady Thorson, Emily Thorson, Kelli Thorson, Tyler Thorson, Leah Cheever (Colin), Ryan Coyle (Kasey), Molly Carter (Evan) and Eli Knittel; his brother-in-law Dale Brager (Joyce); and his great grandchildren, Willard, Lucey, Wade Cheever and Hallie Carter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
