He is survived by: his wife Cathy Carlson of Superior; his children, Carey John Malec, Jr. (Katie) of Woodbridge, VA, Allison Malec of Superior, Jeff Petersen (Erin King) of Rogers, MN, Matt Petersen (Lisa) of Minnetrista, MN and Robert Moyer (Lisa); his grandchildren, Evelyn, Savannah Malec, Aili and Elsi Peterson; his siblings, Frank Malec, Jr., Patricia Stephenson (Peter), Jason Malec (Terri) and Jayne Lowry (Michael); his mother-in-law Ruie Carlson; and his friend Don Wilmot.
