She was predeceased by : her parents, Erich Kapfer and Mary Kapfer (Stafen); her husband Bernard Mertens (Barney); her son Bernard "Binky"; her brother Erich Kapfer, Jr.; and her son-in-law Tom Noah.
She is survived by : her children, Bernardine Nitz (Wayne) of Neenah, Barbara Sladich (William) of Greenwood, Susan Murphy (Dennis) of Thorp, Tom Mertens (Theresa) of Lake Hallie, Paul Mertens (Ann) of Thorp, Louise Noah of Thorp, Richard Mertens (Lisa) of Appleton, Ann Olejniczak (Dan) of Cadott and James Mertens (Kimberly) of Thorp; her sisters, Pauline Haas (David) of Thorp and Erika Mason (Darwin) of Stanley; and her sister-in-law Rosalie Mertens of Thorp. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 28 Great-grandchildren.
