He was predeceased by: his parents, Marjorie Chunat and Gilbert Herold; his stepparents, Clara Herold and Orlyn Chunat; his brother-in-law Kenneth Smith; his half-brother Michael Chunat; and his nephew Brian Ronald Herold.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Allen (Paulus); his children, Rebecca Josephine Herold (David Noffke) of Holmen, WI, Anna Marie Herold of Onalaska, WI, Laura Lee Jones of Shawnee, KS and Lisé Grayson Freking (Dale); his grandchildren, Ryan Blum (Grete), Alexandria Schanke (Ross Holt), Hailee Buehler (Matt), Eden Fridlington, Grayson Freking, Gabriella Freking and Gianna Freking; his great grandchildren, Elsa and Elin Blum; and his siblings, Gary Herold (Janet), Bruce Herold (Cynthia), Linda Wanlass (Clark), Marsha Smith, Gregory Herold (Patricia) and Brent Herold (Amy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
