He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Skerik and Elsie Skerik (Cieben); his brother Thomas Skerik; his brother-in-law John "Jack" Holmgren; and his parents-in-law, Gordon and Fern Holmgren.

He is survived by : his wife Mary Holmgren; his son Tom Skerik (Betsy); his granddaughters, Hannah and Abigail; his siblings-in-law, Dan Holmgren, Jill, Dave Bruno, Doris, John Roeber and Candy Holmgren; and his nieces and nephews, David, Nancy Skerik, Terry, Kelly Paul, Brian and Susan Cole. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family as a memorial fund is being established.
