He was predeceased by: his sister Karen Schmitz; and his parents, Charles Schmitz and Harriet Schmitz. He is survived by: his siblings, Katherine Schmitz (Doug Best), Joseph Schmitz (Susan), Charlotte Jasenski (Jay), Irene Tio (Mark Stirn) and Joy Fate; his son Gage Schmitz; and his nephew Chuck Schmitz. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
