Lillian O. Rostagno Obituary

Lillian "Lil" Olive Rostagno, age 94, of Waukesha, WI, passed peacefully into her heavenly home on January 30, 2024. Born in Escanaba, MI, Lil was the cherished daughter of Michael and Martha Huegel. She was predeceased by her loving parents, her husband William Rostagno, son Jeffrey Rostagno, daughter Patricia Rutlin, son-in-law Michael Schneider, granddaughter Patricia Emslie, siblings Margaret (Dick) Orvis, Louis "Bud" (Jane) Koeppen, Laura (Donald) Bishop, Evelyn "Blondie" (Duane - "Duke") Mitchell, Michael Huegel, and her brothers-in-law Ward Rostagno, Richard "Dick" Schirmacher, and Robert "Bob" Orr.

On July 18, 1953, she married William Rostagno of Waukesha, WI. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family of eight children in a home filled with love and laughter. She is survived and lovingly remembered by six of her children Joe (Wendy) Rostagno, Mark (Pam) Rostagno, Margaret Schneider, Annette (Paul) Gahlman, Jill (Ron) Dillman, Beth (Mike) Janke; son-in-law Rick Rutlin; twelve of her grandchildren Rostonia (Christian) Thilmany, Katelynn (Kyle) Goss, Bryce Richards, Garret (Lauren) Richards, Sarah (Jon) Bowers, Emily (Tyler) Rostagno, Paige (Geremy) Birkinshaw, Marshall Dillman, Lily Ann Dillman, Emmy Rostagno, Alex Rostagno, Kolton (Kylie) Emslie; eleven great-grandchildren Ivy, Rocco and Reece Selman; Jameson, Bennett, Layla and Knoxton Richards; Luke and Gianna Thilmany; Porter Goss; and William Birkinshaw; her sisters Anna Schirmacher, Leona Orr; and sisters-in-law Joan Huegel and Karen Rostagno.

Lil was an embodiment of warmth and love. As a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she took immense pride in caring for her family. Each child, grandchild, and great-grandchild felt her deep love and unique touch of making them feel special and will always attribute the song "You Are My Sunshine" to her memory. An exceptional cook and baker, she delighted in creating personalized birthday cakes for each family member, a testament to her thoughtfulness. Lil's passions included golfing, playing bunco, and savoring a glass of wine. Her big heart extended beyond her family; she cared deeply for those around her, always ensuring their safety and well-being with her gentle reminders to "be careful" and loving farewells of "love you, Kiddo.". Her kind heart and gentle spirit will be forever cherished and missed by all who knew her.

The family extends a special heartfelt thank you to Brighton Hospice at Evin of Oconomowoc for their compassionate care and support.
