He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Smith and Emma Smith; his children, Roger Smith and Joan Smith; his son-in-law George Shanak; his grandson William Luttropp; and his siblings, Ruby Hansen (Elwin), Violet Rasmussen (Harold), Clayton Smith and Gale Smith (Linda).
He is survived by: his wife Hagara Smith; his children, Diane Thiel (Don), Phyllis Luttropp (Jerry), Susan Otterson (John), Betty Shanak, Ray Smith (Pam) and Thomas Smith (Tracy); his son-in-law Peter Johnson; his grandchildren, Michael Otterson (Kristi), Theresa Cleaves (Curt), Dennis Thiel (Rhonda), Dean Thiel (Toni), Darren Thiel, Jeffrey Luttropp (Caitlin), Jason Luttropp, Jodi Hoynoski (Carl), Glen Shanak, Neil Shanak, Shawn Smith (Karla) and Noah Smith; his great grandchildren, Erin, Ben Fletcher, Jonathan, Brittany Otterson, Stephanie, Derrick Cleaves, Dalton, Devon, Lydia, Luke Thiel, Mikhayla, Adam, Hazil, Aislee, Kelsey Luttropp and Ava Smith; and his great great grandchildren, Marybeth, Gabriel and Zoey Fletcher. He is also survived by step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, godchildren, and special nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waupaca.
