He was predeceased by: his parents, Evelyn Matthiesen (Haberer) and Chris Matthiesen; his wife Janet; his sisters, Elaine and JoAnne; and his son-in-law Stephen (Buck).
He is survived by: his children, Mary Kahler of Beaver Dam, Laura Boyd (Paul) of St. Paul, Suzanne Matthiesen of St. Paul, Chris Matthiesen (Cheryl) of Suamico and Andrew Matthiesen (Bridget) of Sussex; and his grandchildren, Marne Boyd, Anders Boyd, Micah Boyd, Kyle Kahler (Yvonne), Marisa Kahler (Matt Hoffman), Nolan Matthiesen, Mitchell Matthiesen, Molly Matthiesen (Justin Schweitzer) and Sam Matthiesen. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
