He was predeceased by: his sister Mitzi Ladogiannis (late Tony); his parents, Hank Maren and Jennie Maren; and his father-in-law Clyde. He is survived by: his wife Karen; his children, Scott Matsen (Susan), Vickie Hoffman (Mark), Kristine Kieliszewski (Brian), Julie Werner (Gregory) and Michael Maren; his grandchildren, Jason Wenzel, Aaron Heiliger (Tate Schultz), Coley Heiliger (Travis Ellis), Tim Hoffman (Mandy), Ben Hoffman (Michelle Holm), Laura Hesslink (Rob), Kyle Matsen (Bailey Pierce), Kory Matsen (Emily Medema), Emily and Evan Werner; his great grandchildren, Austin, Allyson Wenzel and Braxton Hoffman; and his siblings, Ken Maren (Rose), Keith Maren (Sandy) and Karen Maren. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
