With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Beverly Gates Sykes Jr. of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, born in Newport News, Virginia, who passed away on October 25, 2022 at the age of 87. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Ellen Mills Tarter and Beverly Gates Sykes, Sr.; his former wife Sally Applegate Sykes; and his grandson Benjamin Gates Sykes. He is survived by: his wife Janice Carol McCoy Sykes; his children, Mark Dennis Sykes (Kim) of Centreville, VA and Laurie Sykes Dunham (Richard) of Leesburg, VA; his stepchildren, Janice Lorraine Thompson (Ted) of Berkeley Springs and Sarita Elaine Bowers (Dave) of Berkeley Springs; his brother William King Sykes (Lois) of Inverness, FL; his grandchildren, Gates Dunham of Leesburg, VA and Abigail Megan Sykes of Canberra; his stepgrandchildren, Keith Bowers of Berkeley Springs, Jacqueline Garman of Berkeley Springs, Kenny Bowers of Hedgesville, WV and Kelly Bowers of Hedgesville, WV; and his nephew Bryan Sykes of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by eight step great grandchildren.
