She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Mays and Josephine Louise Barberio Barnes; her husband John C. Matheny; her siblings, Johnny Barnes, Judy (Mitzy Andrew), Jimmy Barnes, Randy Barnes and Mary Barnes; and her siblings-in-law, Dave Andrew and Jone Barnes.
She is survived by: her sons, John C. Matheny, II (Kimberly Reed) of Clarksburg and Robert G. Matheny (Melissa) of Bridgeport; her grandchildren, Maria Seamon (Zach), Jacob Swiger (Alisia), Brayden Matheny, Robert Matheny, II (Laura), Joseph M. Matheny (Casey Richwine), Joshua Matheny (Kyley) and Dominick J. Matheny; her great grandchildren, Violet Matheny, Rosella Matheny, Kinsley Townsend, Gianna Seamon, Kimber Matheny, Vincent Seamon, Karri Matheny, Cayson Swiger, Caydon Swiger, Nila Swiger and Grayson Swiger; her brothers, Robert Barnes, Jr. (Virginia) of Richmond, VA and Sam Barnes (Cathy) of Shinnston; and her sisters-in-law, Bets Barnes, Sherry Barnes and Delores Barnes. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home (201 Edison St, Nutter Fort, WV 26301). The lying in state will be held on Thursday, May 29th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Oasis Worship Center (8556 Cost Ave, Stonewood, WV 26301). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, May 29th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home (201 Edison St, Nutter Fort, WV 26301).
