He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar E. Nelson and Nela C. Nelson (Huffman); his former wife Lena Irene Eye Nelson; and his siblings, Betty Jean Nelson Kimble, Roscoe Nelson, Donald "Doodle" Nelson, Roy Nelson and Burley "Jake" Nelson.
He is survived by: his daughter Angela Nelson Kisner (Richard E. Kisner, Jr.) of Montrose, WV; his grandson Jeremy Richard Kisner (Courtney) of Philadelphia, PA; his siblings, James "Jim" Nelson of Dry Fork, WV, Mary Smith of North Carolina, Doris Cohen of North Carolina and Joanne Huffman of Elkins, WV; his nephew Joseph "Joe" Nelson of Dry Fork, WV; his great-nephew Kaden Walker Nelson of Dry Fork, WV; and his brother-in-law Elvin Kisamore of Dry Fork, WV. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
