She was predeceased by: her parents, Rev. Harold W. Schenck and Elsie F. Schenck (Schmidt); her husband Robert Kincaid Nelson; and her sister Joan Elizabeth Johnson. She is survived by: her sons, David Nelson (Margy) of Elkins and Douglas Nelson (Angelica) of Durham; her grandchildren, Cheryl DeWitt and Dustin Bruley; her great grandchildren, Daniel DeWitt and Bryan Bruley; and her niece Cherrie Johnson. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Janice's name to the Connestee Fire Rescue, 400 E. Fork Rd. Brevard, NC 28712 or the fire department of your choice or the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church Women's Scholarship Fund.
