He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Canfield and Goldie Cross Canfield; and his siblings, Elwood, Charles Canfield, Sylvia Saxberg, Hazel Bedford, Mary Newlon, Anna Null, Bessie Wilfong, Thurman Canfield, Willie Canfield and Troy Canfield.
He is survived by: his daughter Debra Dawn Surface (Wayne) of STeeles Tavern, VA; and his siblings, Ward Canfield (Carolyn) of Kerens, Truman Canfield of Montrose, Ray Canfield (Marie) of Elkins, Ruth Carr of Belington, Geneva Stark of Elkins and Norma Jean Lawrence of Elkins.
