He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas E. Broughton and Ruby Fansler Broughton; and his siblings, Edward, Hirsil, Betty, Carol and Shirley.
He is survived by: his wife Dolores Gail Selders; his sons, Van T. Broughton, Jeff L. Broughton (Kelly) and Chris Broughton; his former wife Kathy of Elkins; his daughter Beth A. Dillon (Matt) of Rosemont, WV.; his grandchildren, Heath Broughton of Elkins, Lindsey Gainer (Kurt) of Elkins, Cory Broughton of Colorado, Maddi and Matthew Dillon of Rosemont, WV; his great grandchild Kane M. Gainer of Elkins; and his brother-in-law Ronald J. Selders (Joy) of Elkins.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Elkins Parks & Recreation Commission, 401 Davis Avenue, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Virgil.
