He was predeceased by : his parents, Arlie Tennant and Wanda Bradley Tennant; his wife Karolyn Neely Tennant; and his daughter Donna Tennant. He is survived by : his grandchildren, Jason Offutt (Lara) and Julie Offutt (Betty Sheets).

The family requests memorial contributions be made in James' memory to the Marion County Honor Guard, VFW Post #7048, 1310 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554.
