In loving memory of Mary Elizabeth Sowers of Fairmont, West Virginia, who departed this world on March 11, 2025 at the age of 89. Mary Elizabeth leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her adoptive parents, Earl William and Retta Frances Sidwell Wilburn; her granddaughter Kelley Marie Garcia; and her brothers, Clyde Conner and Charles Sidwell.

She is survived by: her children, Frank Freeman Sowers (Jennifer McDonald) of Fairmont, Mary Anne (Larry Lock) of Clermont, FL, Susan (Joseph Garcia) of Fairmont, Louise (Michael Lawson) of Fairmont and Cheryl (David Leveaux) of Shinnston; and her grandchildren, Jason Davenport, Bryan Garcia, Kerri Sowers, Ross Lawson, Lauren Leveaux, Lindsay Leveaux and Logan Leveaux. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Marion County Humane Society, P.O. Box 905, Fairmont, WV, 26555.

“God bless Mary, each and of you, and Ray. I certainly wish I could be there with you at this time. Mary was special to me and for me. My year in WVa was imprinted in my mind of her and your family's warmness and kindness to me, just a goofy guy from Kaintuck. Wish I could have gotten back more than I did but believe me you all are front and center in my mind. And I will keep you there always. Please remember there are always beds, cots, couches and rugs for any of you traveling near.”
