He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald E. Courtney and Helen C. Courtney (Miller); and his brother James Lee Courtney. He is survived by: his close friend JoAnn Snyder of Fort Ashby; his children, Lisa A. Dolly (Randy) of Fort Ashby and Howard E. "Howie" Courtney, II (Tina) of Ridgeley; his grandchildren, Courtney Mullenax (James) and Brandy Oates (Matt); his stepgranddaughter Megan Lagratta; his great grandchildren, Jonah, Jana and Jace Mullenax; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Bryson, Aubrey and Camden Werner; his siblings, Ronald Courtney of Barboursville, VA, Priscilla DePersig (Marty) of Roanoke, WV, Linda Dawson (Robert) of Romney, WV and Carolyn Braithwaite of Westernport, MD; Bruce Snyder (Debbie), Chase of Ridgely, Scott Snyder (Tiffany), Brooke and Aaron of Fort Ashby. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
