He was predeceased by: his parent Roy Columbus; and his sisters, Caroline J. Bachmann and Hazel A. Perry. He is survived by: his spouse Mary K. Potts Smith; his children, Phyllis J. (Michael Neuharth) of French Creek and Ernest J. Smith (Donna) of French Creek; and his grandchildren, Greg Neuharth, Freddrick Smith, Katelyn, Ashley, Brittany and Rachael.
