With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marie Elaine Peine (Harpers Ferry, West Virginia), who passed away on November 14, 2025 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Marie Elaine leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Preston and Mary Preston; her husband John; her brother John Richard Preston; and her brother-in-law Jon Beyer.
She is survived by: her daughters, Mary Anne Hitt (Nathaniel) of Shepherdstown, WV and Emelie Kaye Peine (Jack Sasser) of Tacoma, WA; her granddaughters, Hazel Hitt and Sadie Sasser; her sister Margaret Beyer; and her sister-in-law Donna Preston. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
