It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Melvin Edward Piper of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, who passed away on May 2, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Garland Piper and Georgia Hawk Piper; his wife Ida L. Piper; his daughter Linda M. Rollison; his son-in-law Stephen L. Hardy; and his siblings, Charles H. Garrett, Paul D. Garrett, Myrtle V. Wilt and Rosetta M. Talton.
He is survived by: his children, David E. Piper (Donna Mae) of Chestnut Hill, Roger D. Piper (Donna Jean) of Uvilla and Patricia A. Hardy of Chestnut Hill; his grandchildren, Angie (Joe), Dale (Rosanna), Kim, Brandon (Stephanie), Hannah and Sarah (Sean); his great grandchildren, Andrew, Nikki (Josh), Aaron (Kelly), Logan, Rebecca, Janelle (Matt), Joey David, Issy, Bryton and Weston; and his great great grandchildren, Gabe, Thomas, McKenzie, Amelia, Evelyn, Hilda, Luna and Damian. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, May 11th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home (256 Halltown Rd, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425). A funeral service was held on Monday, May 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
