He was predeceased by : his parents, John Reesen Houck and Anna May Stock Houck; and his sisters, Leona VanMeter, Della Wise and Essecle Wise.

He is survived by : his wife Nancy Jane Burtt Houck; his children, Billie Seckman (Cindy M.) of Hedgesville, Barbara Priore (Larry) of Hedgesville, Katherine Seibel of Hedgesville, Michael Dwain Houck of York Springs, PA and John Howard Houck (Theresa) of Victoria, TX; his grandchildren, Eric Wisor, Dereck M. Seckman (Jessica), Jenny Marie Peterson, Katie Lynn Houck, Matthew Broddick, Shayla Broddick, Briana May "Dumplin" Seibel, Justin Rojer Collier, Ginger Colleen "Stinker" Seibel and Elizabeth Ann Houck; and his siblings, Clarence Houck (Dolly) and Betty Houck. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
