He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyman A. "Bob" and Alma Scott Rodes; his brother-in-law Larry Carmichael; and his niece Jane Ellen Carmichael. He is survived by: his wife Linda Meadows Rodes; his children, Kimberly Rodes, Joe Rodes (Jessie Spangler Rodes) of Pipestem, WV, Matthew Rodes (Tonya Campbell Rodes) of Beckley and Jaime Rodes-Carola (Jason) of Lewisburg, WV; his grandchildren, Hallie and Ethan Rodes; his son Luke; his grandsons, Heath Carola, Jakob and Nicholas "Nickel" Rodes; his siblings, Su-Ellen Rodes Carmichael of Hinton, Robert "Robbie" Rodes (Sharon) of Hinton, Rebecca Rodes Howery (Butler) of Hinton, Michael Rodes (Cathy) of Kentucky and Virginia "Ginny" Rodes of Florida; and his siblings' children, Scott, Chris Rodes, Jon, Jason Carmichael, Eric Rodes and Erin Rodes Owen.
He fought a gallant battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases for the past five years.
